Hello blogger world. I know, to you I might be a stranger. I fell off of the band-wagon of blogging and started drowning in the sea of shallow, facebook, look-at-how-cool-i-am randomness. This lasted for a few years. Today I decided to re-visit some of my creative passions for writing. Namely, from Xanga. I was somewhat surprised that all of my posts were still there (www.xanga.com/helenfrancis). And I was also intrigued by how intricately detailed I was about not only events in my life, but perspective, emotion, and vision for the future. Where is that? It seems that all of the fears I had about the future were not legitimate and now my worst failure could be that I have lost some of the thrill of the ride. The spontaneity that I once hated has now become my long-lost friend.
Well this is just the beginning. Don't worry my new friends. I will have more to come. Heres a piece of my life I posted about 4 years ago...
In my perfect world....
mistrust doesn't exist. you never have to wonder what people are thinking or whether what they are saying is really what they believe. optimism is admired and appreciated. no one doubts or fears, they just live life. you never find anything out by "he said she said" type stuff... everyone just knows what they need to know, and there is nothing to hide. there is no questioning of people's intentions.
you don't have to be afraid to say what you are thinking. you never want to hide.
relationships are defined. there is no "surface" friendship. there is no competition or jealousy. there are no groups or clicks, and no one is repulsed by anyone. there is more than enough love to go around. there is no starvation because of lack of acceptance.
ice cream is good for you. irrationality and spontaneity are permissible, possibly applaudable.
you know who you are going to marry the second you meet him, but until you meet him, you don't really think about it. and after you meet him, you are really good friends w/ him until you decide it's time to get married. all the over-rated up and down emotionalism isn't heard of. love is simple.
there isn't so much emphasis on outward appearance. you don't have to weed through the people who are just looking... because everyone is focused on the matters of the heart.
girls don't lie. boys don't flirt.
trust is reality.
everyone has a back porch and their good buddys (friend boys and friend girls) always come over for some orange cream soda... just to "visit."

Oh, how time goes by
How I remember the days when I would pour out my heart on the pages of a little xanga site. I used my creative sense of writing to communicate my thoughts on various different issues. Now that facebook has taken flight, all we seem to do is comment on each other's goofy pictures, and make sure we are "attending" the latest social event. Let's just see where this blogspot goes. Maybe its just an old face with a new hat, or maybe as life goes on, only the dedicated journalist face the Internet adversity head-on, with confidence.
